  • How Do I Apply

    You can make your application either on-line or by printing our visa application form from our commercial partner website www.vfsglobal-uk-sy.com . All applicants need an appointment to apply at the Visa Application Centre in Damascus.

    You can apply online & Schedule an appointment in advance by logging on to www.vfsglobal-uk-sy.com . Otherwise you can telephone 6125270 or 6125271 Sunday - Thursday 9.00 am - 3.00 pm

    UK VAC is operated by Mawared Syria on behalf VFS Global. VFS Global / Mawared Syria will be responsible only for accepting applications and providing guidance to the applicants on the process. All applications will continue to be assessed and decided by the Visa Officers at the British Embassy, Amman.

  • Visa Information

    On-line applications can be made through Visa4UK, the UK Border Agency award winning application facility.

    Applications in person should be made at our UK Visa Application Centre. You will have to make an appointment first (see details above). At the time of your appointment you should arrive at the Visa Application Centre with your application, photo, passport, supporting documents and fee. If any part of your application is missing the Visa Application Staff can help you but they will charge for this service.

    To submit your application in person you will need to have filled out the correct Application form. All of the application forms are available on the UKBA website.

    Who needs to submit the application?

    All visa applicants, irrespective of nationality, who apply for a UK visa, will be required to attend the visa application centre in person to provide a ten-finger scan and a digital photograph as part of the UK Border Agency application process. (Applying for a Visa)

    Highly Skilled Forum Judicial Review
    The recent High Court ruling in the UK resulting from the Highly Skilled Forum Judicial Review affects certain people who formerly had leave in the UK under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP). You may be covered by this ruling if you joined HSMP under the arrangements which were in place until the scheme was suspended on 7 November 2006 and you either:
    1. applied for and were refused further leave to remain under the new extension rules which came into force on 5 December 2006, and subsequently left the UK, or
    2. left the UK after 7 November 2006 without ever applying for further leave to remain under the new rules.

    A policy document which explains in detail who is affected by the ruling is available on the UK Border Agency website.

    Forms and Guidance

    Guidance on making and assessing applications under the HSMP Judicial Review judgement is available on the Visa Services website.
    The standard PBS form (VAF 9) and Appendix 1(Tier 1- General) have been expanded to allow them to be used by HSMP Forum JR applicants in both categories, ie (a) and ( b).

    Making Your Application

    Applications in both categories should be made at the appropriate visa section or VAC in the usual way. Category (a) applicants will not be charged a fee; category (b) applicants should pay the standard Tier 1 (General) fee.

Forms, guidance and information on supporting documents for those overseas who think they are affected by the ruling and who wish to apply for entry clearance to return to the UK as a highly skilled migrant are being prepared and will be available on the UK Border Agency Visa Services website. Applications will need to be made via our visa application centre.


  • Completing your Visa Application Form:

    We recommend that you make your visa application online. If you complete an online application you will be assigned to our "Priority" service on arrival at the visa application centre.

    Visit Visa4UK to submit your visa application form online. The site will give you full instructions on how to do this.

    Please remember to print out your completed online application form and bring it with you when you come to the visa application centre to give your biometrics.

    You can also submit a paper application. Either - download a visa application form , or go to the visa application centre and obtain one, and then complete the form by hand.

    Enrolling your Biometric Data:

    Please note that all visa applicants age 5 years and above, irrespective of nationality, who apply for a UK visa, must attend in person to provide their Biometrics - a ten-finger scan and a digital photograph - as part of the UK visa application process. The digital photograph is stored electronically. It is additional to the printed photograph which you must attach to your application - see Photo Specifications .

    Biometrics are an integral part of the UK's secure border control, helping to protect the UK against illegal immigration, crime and terrorism, and protect individuals against identity fraud.

    The digital photography and electronic finger-scanning procedure is quick, discreet, straight forward and entirely safe. Providing biometric data became a legal requirement for all UK visa applicants under the provisions of the Immigration (Provision of Physical Data) Regulation 2006 which came into force on 4 July 2006.

    There are some arrangements for those who are unable to come to the visa application centre for the submission on medical grounds, please contact the VAC for further information.

  • Supporting Documentation

    All applicants
    A valid travel document or passport
    A recent passport-sized (45mm x 35mm), colour photograph of yourself. This should be:

    Taken against a light-coloured background
    Clear and of good quality, and not framed or backed
    Printed on normal photographic paper, and
    Full face and without sunglasses, hat or other head covering unless you wear this for cultural or religious reasons (but the face must not be covered).

    Current Visa Processing Times

    Settlement applications can take up to 3 months. Most other applications should take 5 days. But where we have to make further checks an application may take 15 days.

    When Should I apply?

    Applicants can apply up to three months in advance of their travel date.
